At the intersection of continuity and influence, there is only human perception. The TimeDice provide the impression of ability to affect something permanently ongoing as time.

The time will only be visible when the dice are thrown. The current time appears on the up-facing sides, while the other sides display random hours and minutes. A few seconds later the dice will turn itself off.

The Hours are slightly thicker than the minutes. Also, both the digits are slightly tapered to indicate how to read, avoiding confusion between for example 25 and 52.

Ichiro is a playful robot with a beautiful designed walking motion (see below). An inspiring wind-up toy reflecting the motions of nature. The current simple anatomy allows a forward motion only, hence the name Ichiro. It means “one road”, and refers to the straightforward motion and character.

A prototype was made using the SLS 3D printing technique with dimensions 25 x 18 x 6 cm. The prototype demonstrates the mechanism by a specially designed open body. The walking motion appears when manually rotating the shaft.

The unique “Tilted Shaft” propulsion drives the six legs with only a single rotating shaft. This allows for example a simple wind-up mechanism to make the robot walk for entertainment purposes, or provides a stable drive for engineering applications.

An interactive light-ball, responding to other boids and overall ambient light. The Boid senses it’s surrounding Boids by integrated sensors, and changes it’s brightness accordingly. The boid is a stand-alone product, and a single Boid already reacts to ambient illumination. A few together can synchronize joyfully, or display contrary brightness. Many Boids together display intriguing flows and patterns.

The Boid is also a social product. It can bring Boid-owners together to interact and unfold even more mystical patterns. Don’t stay put with only one or a few Boids, bring them together! Boids with another color, or Boids that change color are the next step in the evolution of Boids.

Currently, iLink is in Beta version, and tested on Windows (FF3, IE7, Chrome1, Safari4) and Mac (Safari4). The planned next release will enable scrolling, sub-folders and it will be optimized for speed.

Shadows are a two dimensional representation of three dimensional objects. At least, until now. The Vita Umbra is both a concept as well as a product, allowing to see a three dimensional silhouette of any object.

The concept is to display two shadows instead of one, and only view one of both shadows with the other eye. That allows the brain to construct a 3D image of the silhouette. The product displayed uses the red-cyan method to hide one shadow for each eye. A better method is polarization, though in that case a metallic screen is necessary to project the shadows on.

The architecture of Reperio Reports is XML based. All reports are stored as XML and the data-model of your database is also stored in XML. So the tool only requires select-rights to your database, which is a safe solution for many applications. The Diagram below shows the data-structure of the application.

This is a study aiming to augment consumer products with haptic feedback, allowing intuitive communication with the user through the sense of touch. Visual and auditive icons are already widely used in consumer products, while the haptic sense is still an underused modality in presenting iconic information. For example, the volume button of a stereo can display adaptive resistance, or mobile phones can indicate by vibration who is calling. A method was sought to create haptic icons (hapticons) that can be intuitively understood. This research indicated that rhythm is one of the major factors in the intuitive recognition of haptic icons.
