The Shadow Disco is a brand new installation by Paul Vranken and Klaas van der Molen. It enables to view the shadow of your opponent in 3D and allows interaction by form. It is now exhibited on the STRP festival until Nov 27th.

The Flylight is a light installation that interacts with its environment as if it were a flock of animals. Luuk van Laake and Klaas van der Molen developed the soft- and hardware for this interactive installation for Drift Design.

A system that allows 3D scanning of patients for custom made wheelchairs. This system was designed for Orthos International.

The Boult Interior system is a versatile system that allows you to create any configuration for any application.

ExoFab is a website to connect Designers and Manufacturers:

At the intersection of continuity and influence, there is only human perception. The TimeDice provide the impression of ability to affect something permanently ongoing as time.

The time will only be visible when the dice are thrown. The current time appears on the up-facing sides, while the other sides display random hours and minutes. A few seconds later the dice will turn itself off.

The Hours are slightly thicker than the minutes. Also, both the digits are slightly tapered to indicate how to read, avoiding confusion between for example 25 and 52.

Ichiro is a playful robot with a beautiful designed walking motion. An inspiring wind-up toy reflecting the motions of nature. The current simple anatomy allows a forward motion only, hence the name Ichiro. It means “one road”, and refers to the straightforward motion and character.

A prototype was made using the SLS 3D printing technique with dimensions 25 x 18 x 6 cm. The prototype demonstrates the mechanism by a specially designed open body. The walking motion appears when manually rotating the shaft.

The unique “Tilted Shaft” propulsion drives the six legs with only a single rotating shaft. This allows for example a simple wind-up mechanism to make the robot walk for entertainment purposes, or provides a stable drive for engineering applications.

Interactive balls of light, reacting to other boids and ambient light. The Boid senses it’s surrounding Boids by integrated sensors, and changes it’s brightness accordingly. The boid is a stand-alone product, and a single Boid already reacts to ambient illumination. A few together can synchronize joyfully, or display contrary brightness. Many Boids together display intriguing flows and patterns.

Boids are a social product, inspiring for creativity. It brings Boid-owners together to interact and unfold even more mystical patterns:

Shadows are a two dimensional representation of three dimensional objects. At least, until now. The Vita Umbra is both a concept as well as a product, allowing to see a three dimensional silhouette of any object.

The concept is to display two shadows instead of one, and only view one of both shadows with the other eye. That allows the brain to construct a 3D image of the silhouette. The product displayed uses the red-cyan method to hide one shadow for each eye. A better method is polarization, though in that case a metallic screen is necessary to project the shadows on.
